This is for one of my husband's best friends (obviously a Police Dog Handler too). I'm not even going to tell you how long this took.... more for the fact that I kept having 'issues' (with the cake that is) at various stages!!!
I had many ideas given to me by his work colleague but most were just down right mean, wrong or involved the word "hooters"
"Git" is part of his nickname..... they are such a nice bunch really LOL
The label reads "Full bodied and slightly fruity"
Happy birthday.... Steve.... Pikey... The French Git..... whatever name your presently going with.
**Everything is handmade, handpainted & edible**
Is the bottle real or part of the cake? Looks amazing!! The detail in the characters is excellent :)
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy, yes I made the bottle it's part of the cake and is edible :)
ReplyDeleteWow - So shiny it really looks very real! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWOW this one is really awesome you have out-done yourself this time. Yes I can only imagine how long it took you & what kind of issues you had, lol.

Good grief... I've been quietly stalking your blog for ages and I am always in awe of your work but this is absolutely incredible. There's no fault in anything and I ... well, I just can't get over how brilliant it is.
I've just run out of words.
Is the label painted? Or did you use pens? And how did you get the bottle to be so shiny?
I appreciate the great feedback :O)
ReplyDeleteMaag... that did make me laugh. No I used photoshop to create the label, I can't draw a straight line so would be hopeless at trying to hand paint the label. I tried many things to get the shine on the bottle and in the end I used confectioners glaze and a minute (less than a drop) amount of canola oil
It is rather interesting for me to read this blog. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to them. I would like to read more soon.

It's amazing, wonderful. First, I thought the wine bottle is real, but when I read that it is handmade, I examined it carefully and I didn't believe my eyes. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! My husband has put in an order for a wine bottle cake just like this for his 30th (1 year away!) I better start practising!!
ReplyDeletefascinating work, all of it! My best to you..
ReplyDeleteOh dear! What a cake! It looks so real that I thought the bottle and box were the real thing and not a cake. As you said, I can't even begin to think about how long that took. But it turned out wonderful.

I almost forgot: I loved your work!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw a cake designer making a bottle of isomalt and using a silicone mold, but I never found it anywhere - I mean, the mold.
ReplyDeleteDid you do this bottle with the same kind of mold? Where can it be found?
Thank you everyone!
ReplyDeleteHi Vani, I got a Champagne chocolate mold of eBay (it was plastic) and then I carved the chocolate into a wine bottle shape using a very sharp blade. Tedious work but worth it to get an authentic shape :O)
You are truly amazing! Your blog is so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing! the bottle and crate look so real! Truly spectacular!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap this came out amazing! Very impresive!
